In "Cosmic Lace" I draw a face on the mystery of my place on earth in space.

Joshua Nisley

This piece was done in oil paint on canvas, and the frame was done in acrylic.

ARTIST'S PURPOSE
Oil on canvas
2009

This piece shows the intended goals of the visionary artist. Each colored dot on the paintbrush represents a chakra point. The Caduceus/ Kundalini energy spirals in the double helix up through the various levels of consciousness passing through each energy point as it moves. One snake the yin, one the yang. One snake the literal, one the figurative; one the light, one the shadow, etc...
At the point above the final chakra is the head of the brush (the part which actually makes contact with the painting) which is shown here as the all encompassing eye of universal creativity. Behind the eye are subtle spectral light waves. The prismatic light waves illustrate diverse yet united waves of new knowledge and inspiration that find their way back into society and consciousness through the manifestation of the artwork itself. Having processed the new inspiration, right and left brain/ masculine and feminine return the energy via the pineal gland/ third eye to the very base of the energy system and the cycle continues, thus aiding in the evolution of art mind and consciousness. On the four corners of the frame I have painted symbols representing Body, Mind, Soul, and Spirit.

Joshua Nisley is an artist and musician currently living in Phoenix AZ. His visual art has always portrayed a hint of the divine; but it was not until the last few years that he really began to merge art and God in a new way. In this piece "Artist's Purpose" he conveys his personal ambitions for art. You can find out more about Joshua by visiting his websites:

Steve David

I've been writing poetry, this time around, since 1996 and responding to, or confluencing with art since 2003.
A work of art will knock at the door of my perception, announce, "Here I am" and proceed to tell me, "I want you to tell a story."
It may ask me to tell what I see or to use my imagination; sometimes it tells me to fantasize; other times it asks that I recall memories. Once in a while it demands I tell others what it directly tells me. I never know what it wanted, until the piece is written and I read the words I've put on paper.

Brief bio:

I'm of Canadian-American descent, a Brooklynite, currently living with 2 dogs, surrounded by books and music, single but looking. Eccentric, of course. I've taught on the college level for years, on the Jr. high school level for many more. I spent a number of years as a truck driver and have been a cartographer, for a few others.

Other examples of my works may be seen at my blog,
www.theskaldicsoul.blogspot.com or at my website, www.theskaldicsoul.com
I can be contacted at sdavid@theskaldicsoul.com

Randy Lagana

Usually I get an idea for a painting and then photograph some reference material. This one, "On the Seventh Day," happened the other way around. I had taken a photo of Diana, a very striking and exotic woman, and the image was quietly powerful! I wanted to paint her in that way. The photograph I used as reference for this painting, as well as many other photographs and paintings, can be seen on my website: http://www.randylagana.com/.

Keith Alan Hamilton

"I'm a mystic individualist, who is a psychic thinker; a Nature-itarian and
a wannabe writer/poet, who obscurely and artistically expresses through
words of thought, intelligently progressive and transitionally perceptive
insights. Apparently all this is directly related to the effect of My
Abnormalities' Normality upon me, with its empathic sensitivity."

Jude Cowell

Lifelong artist, Jude Cowell, currently works primarily in oil and watercolor pencil on paper. This Georgia native's drawings may be viewed online at Cosmic Persona Designs Art Gallery, and at Dreamyfish Art, where postcards and limited edition prints are available upon request. Cosmic Persona Designs is a collection of archetypal feminine images, cosmic-visionary art (some from an earlier series, Children's World), children's art, and more. An astrological influence is apparent, for Jude has been a serious astrology novice for 10 years, and is writer and publisher of the Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington. Dreamyfish Art is a gallery of Saturn's realism--botanically-drawn tropical fish portraits--blended with Neptune's watery, illusory qualities--a combination which neatly describes the artist's natal Sun Capricorn-Moon Pisces personality. Fish dream, too, and here you may have a sneak peek into their most favorite and secret dream locations undersea at Dreamyfish Art. Several moons ago, Jude was an art student at Atlanta School of Art (now College of Art) on Peachtree Street, and even now you may detect a Fashion Illustration, Layout, and Design influence in her work, especially in the Cosmic Persona Designs collection. You never know what might show up at Cosmic Persona, but you are cordially invited to stop by when you can...and remember that fish dream, too!

Hannah Chalut

Hannah Chalut is a contemporary dancer/choreographer, a polarity therapist, and an emerging scholar. "Movement Toward Ineffable" is about the process of co-creating self with spirit, and stems from my recent work with the heart opening practices of whirling dervishes and meditation.

Ciaran Shaman

is inspired by Nature, history, esoteric knowledge, and an awareness of a very different world to the one we live in day-to-day. I see the exquisite beauty inherent in all natural things; and portray this in my work by emulating Nature's flowing lines and fractal geometry - often combining these with a vivid explosion of colour. My aim is to create a sense of harmony and peace in the mind of the viewer, as well as to perhaps make people ask fundamental questions about the world we see around us.

Bent Lorentzen

This story actually was first published in an obscure children’s magazine in 1976, under the title, "Mark of the Red Man." Every year, around September 11, I rework this tiny jewel to describe in a few paragraphs shamanic healing.

No single event since the assassination of JFK in 1963 has so profoundly hurt my heart as the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. I was in the middle of a meeting in Copenhagen, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, when someone interrupted our work, and we turned on the office TV just as the second tower was hit...

I hope you enjoy my visionary art.

Sandeep Chandran

"Even though I have always drawn, my true path of art is one that has paralleled my entheogenic journeys. Ever since my first true immersion into the visionary realms which are opened through the entheogens, I have felt like a conduit for that creative energy to pour out. The series of artwork which currently constitutes my project “Visionary Temple" (www.visionarytemple.com) is the culmination of that creative energy, and the dawning of what I am hoping is my journey in visionary art."
